In light of the David Mackenzie incident, the head of an independent school, Theuns Opperman, writes that more training needs to be given to educators and housemasters to spot the signs of predatory and grooming behaviour, and that schools need to be concerned about their duty of care towards pupils rather than just concerns about their image.

Thank you for taking the plunge into the deep dark secrets that schools and head masters keep. Being an educator I am so happy that a lot of these issues have come to light and that children can feel safe after knowing that they have a voice and that if something is wrong that they need to speak up about it. So often principles sweep these issues under the rug
You guys have done an amazing job. Thank you for exposing these people that call themselves educators and children protectors.
Deon you guys are doing amazing work!!!!! Hope these monsters end up where they belong….behind bars!
Absolutely STUNNING revelations, early results/reactions from the schools, and very solid educational material for us parents in this episode. My head is exploding at the brilliance of the storytelling and the incredible revelation of “Deep Throat”!
Please please please tell me that season 2 wont end after 6 episodes. Feels like a huge can of worms has been opened which won’t fit into 2 more episodes.
Thank you for such an insightful podcast, and educating parents on predatory/grooming behaviour- lessons that should be taught at a school level to students, parents and teachers. Having two young boys, I am now more aware of what the red flags are. I am certain you have saved many lives with this podcast. It is a sad day when the powers that be wait on cues from the media in order to take action.
